Carmel Godley — Mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner

Introduction

I would like to introduce myself.

My name is Carmel Godley. I am an experienced Mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner specializing in Parenting Matters, Property Settlement, Grandparenting Matters and General Mediation.

I bring a wealth of experience in supporting you and your family through complex and often emotionally challenging situations. My background combines practical insight with a deep understanding of the dynamics of relationships, communication, and conflict, allowing me to help guide you with clarity, care, and professionalism.

I am a registered Mediator and Family Dispute Resolution Practitioner in the Southwest of WA and I am registered with the Attorney General's Department and Australian Mediation Association.

My Approach

Fairness, respect, practical outcomes

Dispute resolution can be a complex and a deeply personal experience.

I assist people and help them navigate the difficult discussions they need to have with another person, to feel heard and to be able to communicate from their perspective.

My role is not to judge or take sides but help and support people to come to resolution for them to move forward. I provide a calm, structured, and confidential space for people to resolve disputes without the stress, cost, and uncertainty of going to court.

My approach to mediation is grounded in fairness, respect, and practical outcomes. I work with individuals, families, and professionals to navigate difficult conversations, reduce conflict, and move toward workable solutions.

I understand that disputes, particularly those involving family, separation, or ongoing relationships—can be emotionally complex. My role is to remain neutral while supporting you to be heard, understood, and focused on resolution.

Before any mediation takes place, I conduct a thorough Intake and safety assessment process. This ensures the process is tailored to your circumstances and is managed in a way that prioritises the wellbeing of all involved including the children.

Where appropriate, I offer flexible formats including joint sessions, shuttle mediation, telephone and online mediation to support safety, comfort and practicality.

I also provide co-mediation with other professional and experienced mediators to ensure a thorough and supportive process.

My focus is simple; to provide a professional, respectful and compassionate process that helps people move forward with clarity, confidence and assurance.

I would be honoured to help you move through this challenging time and help you be able to reach your outcome and new chapter in your life.
